Hana Yori Dango, episode 4, elevator scene. I don’t remember the exact moment I started shipping Maotsujun, but I do remember that episode 4 is when Domyouji won me over. I think it was around this time where somewhere in my fangirl heart I decided to look up the actor and actress who played this great duo so well. Again— Makino and Domyouji are NOT Mao and Jun, but it was Hanadan that led me to discover them.

I was typing a compilation of my favorite conversation exchanges with them for the past hour— then realized that after years of following their story, posting it in a single post would take about the same amount of research, video recovery, and effort as a graduate thesis. So, since the 15-day challenge just says “reasons,” here are four simple reasons. Four reasons for four years I believe they’ve been together.

Mao: I think you should have handled me as a girl more.
Jun: We were careful because of age difference. Didn’t you know?
Mao: It was only Tonton who said to me “You’re cute” or “You’re wearing cute clothes today”—
Jun: Um.
Mao: —Or “Your hairstyle today is…” But everyone else. You guys picked on me when I wore some horrible costume, but when I wore something fancy, you all go like “What the hell is going on with you with this ruffle dress?”
Jun: Because that dress was so unfit for you.
Mao: Ahuhuhuhu. So mean.
Jun: Nah, it wasn’t. We were so shy.
Mao: Oh were they?
Jun: Yeah.
Mao: I should’ve known.

Going to do this. <3
Too bad Mao and Aiba doesn’t have much interaction at Kouhaku, but they do have such cute chemistry.
